Abstract :
On March 15 2011, China Central Television reported one of the company´s suppliers, Jiyuan Shuanghui Food Co Ltd, had purchased pigs that had been fed with clenbuterol. On March 16 2011, stocks in the Shenzhen-listed Henan Shuanghui Investment and Development Co Ltd were suspended from transaction at 9:30 am on Wednesday after the report, and fell Tuesday by 10-percent daily limit to 77.94 yuan. Moreover, the Clenbuterol pork scandal has caused consumers all over China to express concerns and disappointment on the giant processor. This paper disgusses the development of the clenbuterol pork crisis from the prospectives of Shuanghui Group, consumers, and Chinese food supervision system as a whole. Then, we will emphasize the significant of crisis management and discuss some measures aiming to avoid crisis like Shuanghui Group repetition.
