Abstract :
Collectively the concept of assisted living covers what is otherwise often described as telecare, and telehealth. Driven by demographic changes, and the consequent growth in people with long term health conditions (chronic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, type II diabetes and dementia) significant investment are been made in technology research and development, but the key challenges are not technological, but in the social sciences.
