Abstract :
Quality of life a of population represents a wide range of opportunities for personalized technologies supporting all areas of information and communication technologies (ICT), mainly wireless communications. In fact, most national policies are considering these communication and information systems as the basic elements for the emerging healthcare and social needs currently under serious economic constrains. This paper discuss on the overall wireless solutions concerning their application for welfare, independent living and health. It tries to offer a global vision of the situation. It is taken into account demographic change in the European population, the demand and the offer of innovative systems and services. They would be based on integrated heterogeneous wireless network which would enable a multimode wireless device equipped with multiple interfaces to use in appropriate networks that meet their service and cost requirements.
