Abstract :
In order to counter the barriers of care for mobility-impaired person, like ageing citizens and terminal cancer patient, we plan a platform, u-care system that integrates wireless telecommunication, sensor network, and information technology to take care of the mobility impaired person, elderly and terminal cancer patient. Through the u-care system, the digital art contents were streaming through broadband Internet and play onsite via a Babybot, which is a telecare device at remote site. It offers a new path of art therapy for senior citizen and terminal cancer patients, being inconvenience to visit art gallery. Moreover, the system also provides the vital sign monitor and video conference to communicate with physicians, patients and patient´s families. It will improve the quality of life and healthcare and reduce the medicine resource on the care of elderly and terminal cancer patients. User requirement and awareness survey will be performed on subjects of having chronic diseases elderly and being terminal cancer patients of Hospice of National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) along with preliminary evaluation the effectiveness of the digital art therapy at the angel art gallery and long-term care center and Hospice of NTUH, senior apartments, and art classrooms in Taiwan.
