Abstract :
This paper presents a new type of power converter with which a battery and a solar cell are connected. The circuit cannot only track the maximum peak power from the solar cell but also charge and discharge the battery. This circuit obtains the maximum power of the solar cell, under conditions from light to heavy load. In addition, all switches in the circuit can achieve zero-voltage-switching (ZVS). This paper describes the analytical results of the new power converter by applying the state space averaging method and also shows the range in which the circuit can operate under ZVS. It is noted that the experimental values agree well with the theoretical results
