Abstract :
Ubiquitous and pervasive computing is one of the imperatives for the success of mobile communications. In a recent work, we presented WiSwitch, which is a solution for providing, whenever possible, always-on, continuous and optimized network services to mobile users, independently from the underlying technology. Recent studies have shown that mobile users mainly use HTTP protocol, which is highly affected by the use of multiple TCP connections. In this paper, we present a solution for significantly enhance the overall performance of WWW for always-on user, which transparently acts at high layers, with no modification to the browser and Web server.
