Abstract :
We propose a quasimolecular simulation of a nonlinear elastic string by means of a molecular type approach. The discrete model is an array of masses connected by Hookean springs with nearest-neighbor interactions. Therefore the non linearity is introduced by the geometry of the problem not by the expression of the force.
