Abstract :
A novel Slow-Wave Evanescent-Mode (SWEM) coupling technique is incorporated in voltage controlled oscillator circuits (VCOs) with the intent of lowering size, cost, power-consumption, phase noise, and vibration sensitivity for current and later generation communication systems. The trick is to dynamically restore the SWEM energy and suppress the random fluctuation of the tuned-resonator network for the minimization of the noise in RF&MW oscillator circuits. An example of 1 GHz and 10 GHz low phase noise low cost VCO is demonstrated for the validation of the novel approach, which holds good for both narrow and broadband oscillator circuits.
