Abstract :
This paper develops the finite element model of a flexible hard disk drive (HDD) composed of the spinning disk-spindle system with the fluid dynamic bearings (FDBs), the head-suspension-actuator with pivot bearings and air bearings, and the base plate with complicated geometry to investigate the shock response by using the finite element method (FEM) and the mode superposition.
