Abstract
This paper presents a simulation study on the dynamic behavior of a femto slider in contact with the disk. A simulator is developed to calculate the interactions between the air bearing dynamics and vibrations of the slider-suspension assembly. The dynamic response of read/write head in both flying-height (FH) and off-track directions due to the slider-disk contacts can be obtained with this simulator. Effects of surface roughness, disk waviness, suspension and ABS design on the read/write head positioning in both directions are investigated.
