Abstract :
Flexible VLSI architectures for realizing high-speed 2-D FIR (finite impulse response) and IIR (infinite impulse response) digital filters are described. The architectures are developed to realize the cyclical parallel processing structures for 2-D digital filtering. The processing structures are obtained from using storage elements. The resulting architectures, which can process 2-D data arrays of arbitrary dimensions in real time or near real time, exhibit a high degree of modularity and regularity, making them suitable for VLSI implementation
