Abstract :
Water discharge at the outlet of irrigation channel is estimated through measurable information such as open-level of floodgate, water level at front and back of the floodgate and so on, that has typical characteristics of soft-sensing. The expert system of soft-sensing introduced in this paper combines an expert system with soft-sensing. Its knowledge-base is composed of the formulas applied in measuring water discharge at the hydraulic structure and inference engine runs according to soft-sensing for the water discharge and calculation of the flow-indexes. Meticulous calculation of flow-indexes based on knowledge-base expansion improved remarkably precision of the soft-sensing.
