Abstract :
Different studies have been made in development of software process improvement (SPI) standards and models, or to identify factors that affect SPI success. However, these studies do not provide answers to questions about the effect of Geographical Region on CMMI-based SPI initiatives duration. And why there is obvious different time in the organizations´ duration over the world. In this research we will study effect of geographical region on accelerating of transition time between CMMI levels. We´ll apply empirical study between two different Geographical Regions in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. The aim of research is trying to identify most of factors which influence the duration in the literature review and the new factors that may postpone transition time among CMMI levels which are influenced by Geographical Region and are not included or existed in the literature review. Then suggest a proposed guideline which would help software organizations.
