Abstract
This document proposes a methodology for the availability evaluation of channels with different availability levels developed on MS-SPRing architecture with a planned maintenance activity on fibre pairs. The methodology is based on an evaluation of the overlay of a planned maintenance activity with a network failure state. In particular, we consider typical MS-SPRing channels (protected, nonpre-emptible unprotected traffic NUT, extra traffic ET) and extra traffic or NUT channels with SNCP scheme. It will be shown that a service composed by extra traffic channels with SNCP scheme over MS-SPRing ring-interconnected network architecture is able to perform a different profile of "service level agreement". The paper will perform a risk vs cost of the service analysis to understand the business profile of a "low priority channel" on a 4 fibre MS-SPRing infrastructure in order to recover second order failures.
