Abstract
In this study, we investigate the effect of changes in the dimple position on the shock performance of small form factor drives. The CML Load-Unload-Shock (L/UL/S) simulator is used to evaluate the operational shock response of a commercially available 1" drive for various dimple locations. It is found that the shock resistance of the drive can be improved by optimally locating the dimple.
