Abstract
A decomposition-aggregation scheme for reduction of dimensionality in 2-D systems is introduced. This method, which is based on the extension of the singular perturbation method in two dimensions, can be used to decompose the original 2-D system into two reduced-order subsystems. The reduced-order subsystems are shown to effectively capture the behavior of the original full-order system. A numerical example indicating the effectiveness of the method when used in image-modeling applications is provided
