Abstract :
The constructive roles of noise are an ever-growing attractive topic in systems biology. In this paper, noise-induced rhythm in a single genetic motif, and rhythmicity and synchronization out of noise in an ensemble of stochastic genetic oscillators are investigated. It is found that for the former case, an appropriate fluctuation from the extrinsic environment can excite almost regular motions, whereas for the latter case, the noise with proper intensities can induce a pronounced coherence and synchronization. In addition, the communication-enhanced self-induced stochastic coherence, which can be used to account for the observed phenomena, is systematically discussed.
