Abstract :
Inherent problem in three-level neutral-point-clamped voltage source inverters (NPC VSI) is the variation of the neutral point potential. This paper proposes a carrier-based PWM technique, which can balance the neutral point potential and minimize the output voltage distortion. Additionally, the modulated voltage error caused by the unbalance of the neutral point potential is analyzed and the method to eliminate the error is described. The validity of the proposed PWM method is verified by computer simulation and experimental results
