Abstract :
One-year spatial diversity characteristics on terrestrial path under influence of atmospheric multipath propagation are presented. Received signal level fluctuations are measured at different heights on the receiver site of the 50 km long terrestrial path operating in the 10 GHz band. Five receivers are installed on the mast in the heights of 51.5, 61.1, 90.0, 119.9 and 145.5 m above the ground. Multipath fading events due to atmospheric refraction have been observed and analysed. A spatial diversity receiver with two antennas in different heights is simulated by means of measured data. A diversity improvement factor is determined from the statistics of the received signals measured in different year seasons.
