Abstract
Texture features have often been used in remote sensing applications to retrieve spatial regularities for images. Among existent texture analytical tools, grey-level occurrence matrix (GLCM) is effective for high resolution optical imagery (e.g. Ikonos) and widely accepted for the classification and analysis of texture features. On May 27th 2006, a Mw 6.3 earthquake took place in Java, Indonesia, which destroyed 135,000 homes. Texture information was retrieved using GLCM from Ikonos panchromatic images, which were taken in the earthquake-affected areas both before and after the earthquake, to evaluate the damage of local residences.
