Abstract :
This paper is mainly focused on the errors leaded by improper use of approximate antenna pattern formula and common errors in phased array radar antenna pattern simulation. First, the formula of linear and planar phased array antenna pattern is derived. Then, the precise definition of argument is presented and some precise and approximate expressions of antenna pattern are listed. Finally, simulation result is shown about errors between precise and approximate antenna pattern expression. The discrepancy caused by approximate expression and common errors is also summarized and analyzed in this paper.
