Abstract
In this paper an adaptive opportunistic scheduling scheme is proposed for wireless LANs in the presence of a link adaptation scheme such as auto-rate fall-back (ARF). Extensive simulation experiments and scenarios have shown that this scheme outperforms other alternatives in terms of throughput as well as adaptation to different channel characteristics such as location dependent and bursty errors. Current work consists in implementing this algorithm in a real test-bed using IEEE802.11a/g wireless LAN access point
