Abstract
The effect of magnetic plates attached to a deflection yoke is analyzed using a computer program. The magnetic fields are computed by a hybrid method combining a surface-charge method with a finite-difference method using Fourier transformation. The calculated misconvergence pattern produced by a silicon steel plate attached to a deflection yoke agrees with the measurements. This program is being applied to the design of magnetic plates for producing a local distribution of magnetic fields.<>
