Abstract
An adaptive forward-backward filtering method for image enhancement based on the two-dimensional Bayesian estimate of images is presented. As the steady-state gain can be preevaluated, this algorithm is fast and simple. An example shows that this filtering is better than the two-dimensional Bayesian estimate in smoothing noise and preserving the details of images.<>
