Abstract :
A video echo cancellation scheme that uses system identification techniques where the associated transversal filter has fewer multipliers than taps is presented. This topology is made possible by exploiting the properties of the echo channel impulse response. Optima are obtained by performing multiple system identifications with the available multipliers in various configurations along the transversal delay line. Then linear mapping is applied to reconstruct the real optimum of the filter, and the multipliers are redistributed where needed. The mapping reduces the redistribution problem to a simple geometric interpretation and permits a nonwhite reference to be used in system identification
