Analysing agentive nouns

This paper concerns some analyses related to derived agentive nouns. In the first section of this paper, a modeling description of the agentive noun lexicon is given. It provides a brief overview of the derived agentive nouns containing components (verbs, objects, adverbials) and description elements (models, categories, functions). The second part gives an overview of number of various schemes that illustrate topics such as polysemy, collocation, and also relationships among verbs, subjects, objects and prepositional objects, verb ends and suffixes, prepositional objects and prepositions. The usefulness of lexical relations in linguistics, psycholinguistics, and computational research has led to a number of efforts to create large electronic databases of such relations. One such a lexical database for English is Wordnet. The lexicon that is processed in this research, together with schemes that are derived from it, are an effort to contribute to this subject
