  • Abstract
A novel hybrid active power filter (HAPF) is proposed in this paper, which has the advantages of both active power filter (APF) and passive filter (PF), and overcomes their defects. A review of the present development of harmonic suppressing and reactive power compensation is presented in the first part. Principle and structure of the proposed HAPF is discussed in the second part, and an optimized switch controlling strategy is introduced, which can control the 3-phase 3-wire APF more effectually and accurately. A reference current generating method named as vp-vq is deduced in the third part, which can solve the problem of the existing methods under asymmetrical and distorted source-voltage. Software simulation result is presented in the last part, which can demonstrate the validity and effect of the proposed HAPF
