Abstract :
Semiconductor technologies are enabling the new capabilities and services that the information superhighway promises. The delivery of digital information into the home and office will change the concept of what one can do at the home and office. Digital connectivity, and access to information, will be within everyone´s reach. A wide range of talents must be combined and new kind of tools must be developed to efficiently transmit images and information that in raw form contain gigabits per second of data, but must be delivered in megabits of bandwidth. To meet all of the design challenges for delivering digital information across the broadband network and into the home in the existing infrastructure is the key.
