Abstract :
This paper presents the fabrication of an anisotropic photonic crystal and studies its nonlinear optical response and symmetry by means of optical harmonic generation. Hence, the significance of photonic band structure for nonlinear optical processes is demonstrated. This work also provides with a new recipe to affect /spl chi//sup (3)/ nonlinearity and its symmetry in silicon-based structure.
