  • Abstract
    Range analysis is an important step in determining integer bit-widths for arithmetic DSP circuits. Disadvantages of conventional methods, such as long calculation time and coarse results, limit their applicability. In this paper, we propose a new method based on affine arithmetic and Arithmetic Transform to perform range analysis, which can efficiently and tightly calculate the range and allocate bit-widths. The experiments show that tight ranges and small circuit areas can be obtained in short running time.
