A study of domestic power frequency magnetic fields in South Africa

Measurements of the domestic electromagnetic environment were designed and executed, and results are presented. Measurements were made in 30 suburban single-family houses in the Greater Johannesburg area, involving a volunteer subject who lived in each house. The study compares the exposure of an adult subject to field measurements conducted in the home of the subject. Limited data on the average exposure value for the sample population. It is concluded that results of overseas studies into the effects of power frequency fields can be used in South Africa
