Abstract
Data fusion is the process of utilising one or more sensors over time to assemble a representation of aspects of interest in an environment. As a component of this process, situation refinement is the process of assembling representations of behavioural relationships between objects. The representations formed during situation refinement are called situation assessments. The aim of the paper is to: 1. provide an understanding of situation assessments; and 2. to briefly outline part of the author´s framework for automating the situation refinement process
