Abstract :
With the rapid development and wide application of information technology (IT), how IT investment impacts on banking performance has been the hot topic of academic and industrial circles. However, the existing theoretical models of impact of IT investment on enterprise performance have some limitations and disadvantages. In this paper, a new systematic and comprehensive theory model of impact of IT investment on banking performance is proposed, which is true of China finance information status. This model not only includes the intermediate business processes associated with IT and performance, but also the important environment variables, such as banking size, time factor and IT application ability. The components of theory model are analyzed elaborately. The research results show that the impact of IT investment on banking performance in China has the characteristics of stage and indirectness.
