Abstract :
This article provides an overview of the DVB - S (Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite) specifications, and the context of its extension to mobility. Different ways for receiving digital television on mobile devices are summarized. Then, the overall demonstrator from the antenna to the signal processing is discussed. Some attention is paid to the Front-End which is deeply developed in this paper. Finally, a methodology for the receiver´s feasibility is suggested. It is claimed that DVB - S fulfills the requirements of extending the fixed reception to mobility in Ku - band with large area coverage, good quality of the received signals and a reduced total network cost.
