Abstract :
The paper describes a novel adaptive antenna system (AAS) capable of changing its transmission parameters via a tunable passive radiator according to the structure of the RF propagation channel. The proposed AAS is intended for users´ handheld terminals as it addresses the physical size constraints of mobile units. Moreover, the proposed AAS relies on partial channel knowledge when tuning to a different loading state for maximizing the average rate of communication.
