Abstract
Modern vehicles have multiplexing systems which allow the sharing of data, reduction of redundant sensors and reduced wiring. There is a growing trend to provide various consumer devices in vehicles, and also to interface with intelligent transportation systems. This paper provides an overview of these vehicle multiplexing systems which are useful for implementing DSP applications. Use of a particular protocol depends on the application, the vehicle platform, the OEM´s product design philosophy and the satisfaction of government regulations. OEMs will eventually decide on the choice of a protocol and everyone (subcontractors and other designers) will simply comply with that decision. The DSP node can be implemented with the addition of a CAN protocol processor and a transceiver to the existing DSP hardware
