Abstract
A micro-controller-based dimmable electronic ballast for HPS lamps is presented in this paper. An easier and low-cost power control method is proposed in this paper, based on the regulation of the average input current of the inverter. Driving signal with low frequency modulation generated from MCU is used to eliminate unstable arc during dimming state. Experimental results for the commercial HPS lamp Philips NAV250 show the feasibility of the proposed ballast
