Abstract
This paper begins with a discussion of the difference between multi-level/phase signal sets and biorthogonal symbol sets in term of distance property. Based on the criterion introduced by Divsalar and Simon (1988), we propose a more practical criterion for the generalized set partition with biorthogonal symbol sets, which is used in MTCM. A set partitioning method based on this criterion is given
