The panelist, discusses the decline of R & D work in Canada and all over the world. The emphasis of the research work is on the integration of new technologies in the existing system. A new aspect of the utility research in Canada is the profitability. This result in that most research work has short or medium term goals. An important aspect of the Canadian research is the collaborative approach and sharing of R & D results
