Abstract :
The panel contribution provides a snapshot of research activities and facilities at Canadian Universities. Academic and industry sectors in Canada have developed excellent synergy which has resulted in special modes for research support and research topic selection in the different regions of this vast country. This synergy has spurred innovation and resulted in several identifiable industry successes. Federal and Provincial Governments are also a major catalyst for research and have in place several unique schemes such as the Industrial Research Chair and Canada Research Chair programs. The role of University research in developing future technical human resources is also presented
