Abstract
For complex molecular systems, overlapping modes can interfere with identification. One can isolate different modes by using aligned systems and polarization sensitive measurements. Here we demonstrate the anisotropic and birefringence behavior of sucrose and oxalic acid crystals. The molecular alignment of the crystal allows the determination of which modes are dipole coupled to the THz field.
