Abstract
This paper introduces a new methodology for instantaneous measurement of symmetrical components utilizing the energy operator concept. The energy operator is used to measure the changes in the amplitudes and the angles of the three phases which are then processed to calculate the symmetrical components. The proposed technique is robust, fast, simple, stable and easy to implement. Various signals experienced with different power quality problems are used to test the proposed algorithm. The results prove the efficiency of the proposed technique
