Abstract
The Intellectual Distributed Processing System (IDPS) is a declarative distributed system which has no centralized control unit. Each software module is modeled as an object and interacts with each other through broadcast communication. Objects behave correctly at any site and they can have any number of replicas. Therefore it is possible to add, delete and migrate objects and/or computers. Then IDPS realizes highly reliable and extendible systems. We have developed a fault tolerant architecture on IDPS. This paper describes a fault-tolerant architecture of IDPS and its application to a passenger information system of Teito Rapid Transit Authority
