Abstract :
Microwave tomographic imaging has been proposed as a novel technique for detecting breast cancer because of the reported high normal/malignant tissue property contrast. While our 2D approaches have provided valuable insight into what is achievable, microwave signal propagation is inherently a 3D phenomenon best handled with 3D techniques. In this paper we discuss possible image data set configurations and their impact on the overall image quality. This data will provide valuable insight for the design and implementation of our 3D data acquisition system
