Abstract :
In large scale wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the individual sensor nodes deployed are typically low-cost with limited computation, communication and energy resources. Thus, to send the data collected by the senor nodes to the base station multi-hop routing algorithms are implemented. Clustering techniques are helpful to partition the sensor network into multiple smaller regions that could be efficiently monitored by more powerful cluster head nodes in a distributed manner. In this paper, we are proposing an energy aware adaptive clustering technique where the number of nodes managed by a cluster head is adjusted according to its available energy. The system is able to dynamically adapt to changing energy levels and reconfigures the clusters automatically. This strategy helps maintain coverage, increase the network lifetime, and quality of service (QoS) of the WSN.
