  • Abstract
A novel multilevel cascaded bridgeless rectifier typology is proposed by this paper with the aim of eliminating the bulky and complex line frequency transformer from the front end of the traditional multilevel converters. The module of the rectifier is composed of the bridgeless rectifier. Through applying suitable control strategy, the input current can be programmed to be sinusoidal and nearly in phase with the input voltage; in addition, the output dc voltage of each module can be controlled in balance. The performance of the novel multilevel cascaded bridgeless rectifier is investigated through theoretical analysis and simulation. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed rectifier is verified through the experiments in a small scale test platform.
