  • Abstract
This paper explores the application of soft magnetic composite (SMC) materials to the design of PM wind generators for small direct-drive wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). The characteristics of SMC materials are first introduced. The applicability of SMC materials to the design of PM wind generators is then discussed. The design and performance of a prototype SMC-based PM wind generator is outlined finally
