Abstract :
The introduction of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) in a power system improves the stability, reduces the losses, reduces the cost of generation and also improves the loadability of the system. In the proposed work, a traditional technique is used to analysis its stability, Equal Area Criterion (EAC) is used to analysis the stability with and without introducing of TCSC devices in a power system under various fault conditions. The simulation was performed on a 3-bus power system modeled for stability studies. The results clearly indicate that introduction of TCSC devices in an appropriate location increases the power flow of the system and improves transient stability, by controlling its mode of operation by developing fuzzy logic controller module which correctly identifies and minimizing the fault clearing angle by providing line voltage and current as a input quantity.
