Abstract
This paper addresses the development of a new real-time simulation platform based on MATLAB real-time workshop (RTW) and real-time extension (RTX) of the Windows operating system. A execution time estimation algorithm is proposed to predict the time cost of a single simulation task built by MATLAB/SIMULINK, which can be transformed into any program language for other simulation platforms or machines through MATLAB RTW. The simulation tasks generated by MATLAB RTW can be inserted into one simulation thread on a personal computer (PC) that is developed based on RTX software of the Windows system in order that the multitasking simulation is obtained. Therefore, the performance of realtime simulation thread on PC is improved through the new simulation mechanism which can insert several simulation tasks into one simulation thread.
