Abstract :
The traditional view of software engineering characterises the development of software as consisting of a number of processes and representations which are produced in an essentially linear fashion. This view of software production is often called the waterfall model as the output of each process tumbles down neatly to the next activity. The author presents a number of problems with the waterfall view of software development. He discusses various other system development methodologies
